Espoo Rugby was founded in the autumn of 2013. The team consists of Finnish and foreign players. Espoo Rugby welcomes everyone who are interested in the sport, whether the player has previous experience of the sport or not.

Espoo Rugby was founded in the autumn of 2013, players are mainly from the Helsinki metropolitan area. The team consists of Finnish and foreign players. Espoo Rugby welcomes everyone who are interested in the sport, whether the player has previous experience of the sport or not.

We currently play in the Finnish Division 1 and we consistently reach the grand final each season but as of yet the ultimate goal of getting promotion to the Championship has alluded us. The goal for season 2022/23 is to make that final step up.

We have over 5000 active followers over our social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. We regularly appear in the local press with match reports and quite often post match interviews by the newspapers. Almost all matches are filmed by the home teams and all games are posted via the Suomen Rugbyliitto Youtube channel.

Finnish rugby is in its 20th year and the sport has grown in that time from just 4 hobby clubs to 20 amateur mens and womens teams. This year there is a big push for youth age groups to begin which will ensure continued healthy growth of the sport here in Finland. However these types of programs can only be successful with strong financial backing.
