Foiling Week is the first and only global event dedicated to Foiling boats, their sailors, designers and builders.

Description

Since its launch in 2013, Foiling Week has taken place in a variety of locations. Based in Malcesine, Lake Garda, the event has also traveled to Miami, Sydney and Newport, Rhode Island.

The event celebrates innovation, and brings together experts in the industry to share ideas, create memories and entertain with regattas, workshops and presentations.  Foiling Week is a non-profit sport and cultural association whose scope is to promote foiling and make it more safe,  accessible and sustainable. The aim is to provide those in the foiling community the network and resources to grow within the sport of sailing with the week compromising of events, initiatives and highly competitive races where sailors of the major international circuits meet to compete together.

With a combination of hydrodynamic science, composites experience and extreme athletic skills, flight over water is becoming a powerful and influential reality.  Foiling Week has grown and grown over the last couple of years with the help and for the benefit of the foiling community,  its sponsors and its partners. The event is now looking for further partners who want to join on this exciting journey and reap the rewards of working within this diverse,  creative and innovative sport.

Who’s attending?

  • Over 200 boats were in Lake Garda in 2019. That means all foiling sailors know what Foiling Week is and have likely attended at least one of the ten events that have happened so far making Foiling Week the largest multi-class, multi-continent foiling event.
  • 8 Universities attended in 2019. At the next event, 14 are due to attend with attendees from every Naval Architecture University.
  • There were 15 new boats to the market that were launched at the 2019 event meaning that every single maker of foiling boats have been attendees, while the larger companies such as Persico, have been sponsors.
  • 30 boat manufacturers have participated. 
  • There are 350 attendees at the annual Foiling Week Awards, with 8 categories of prizes.
  • There have been over 250 speakers across the ten Foiling Week events. The top players of foiling design and build have come to present relationships with other industry players like Magenta, Andrew Simpson foundation, RYA and the YRF for joint programs…
  • Almost 500 people have tried Foiling for the first time at Foiling Week, 40% were children.
  • 14 000 base community on Facebook with average of 250 000 contacts per month.
