Description
IRB Racing is a sport that involves Surf Life Savers operating an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in a course through heavy surf.
Each race consists of one driver, one crew and one patient in the water that requires rescuing in a simulated scenario.
Each year over 1000 competitors take part in IRB Racing all over Australia aging between 16 years to 60+ years of age in both male and female events.
One of the great strengths of the sport is that it allows the competitors to practice and refine the rescue skills that are so crucial throughout the summer season while patrolling our beaches in a fun and unique environment, while also utilising one of the more iconic pieces
of lifesaving equipment - the IRB.
