Marcos Duarte

Marcos Duarte is a martial artist of Brazilian descent, and speaks English as a second language; he is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, and is currently studying Italian. In his working career, Marcos had been a Police Officer for 10 years, with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Lock Haven University, and is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Currently, Marcos is taking aim at a contract with an up and coming martial arts league, serving as the premier arena for Karatekas, called: “Karate Combat”. Marcos believes deep-down, that he is the next superstar of the major leagues, and is looking to make the sport of Taekwondo more mainstream by representing Karate Combat. He believes he has what it takes to elevate the league to it's potential heights, and bring more attention and enthusiasm to his styles, Karate and Taekwondo; which he feels are undeservedly under-appreciated in the world of Professional Martial Arts.

For Marcos, this is about more than fame and fortune … It's about making an impact that becomes a lasting legacy. Marcos wants to leave an indelible mark on the martial arts industry, and believes he's essentially the Joe Paterno of this sport; one who's meant for Karate Combat. He really wants to sell the league, so as to sell the game, and ultimately see Karate become an NCAA sport in the future. Marcos is on a serious mission. To him, this is bigger than his own professional success as an athlete; the real success in his eyes is in the country adopting a martial art as one of the more common athletic endeavors our youths pursue; such as Basketball, Baseball, Hockey, Football, Soccer … Marcos has a strategy for putting Karate on that list, where Universities will be represented in competition, and Scholarships awarded; thus providing an avenue for athletes of the martial arts to no longer have to forfeit their careers in the game, or let their talents wither away simply because at 18-21 years old, the time came to “grow up and get a job" … If you have what it takes to be a Champion, Marcos Duarte believes you should be able to go Collegiate, or Pro, even fresh out of High School rather than settle in another direction.
